The NUT continues to campaign against the SATs:
In response to Ed Balls’ decision to remove the Key Stage 3 tests NUT Acting General Secretary, Christine Blower, said:
“Ed Balls’ decision to remove the Key Stage 3 tests is a welcome vindication of the NUT’s long running campaign against the tests. They are wrong educationally. They are wrong because of the excessive workload they create for teachers. They are wrong because of the stress they cause children. That is why the tests at Key Stages 1 and 2 also have to go. “
